Fluid Flickr Plug-In screencast

Below is a quick digivid showing how the Fluid Plug-In API is coming along. This screencast shows some of the Fluid Plug-In features as well as a pre-release version of a Flickr Plug-In I’m working on using ImageKit and the open source ObjectiveFlickr framework by Lukhnos D. Liu.

The video was done in one take, and is a bit rushed, but I’m so busy pulling the Plug-In API together, that I’d rather post it than spend time trying to make something nice. I’ll do that after the API is shipped.

Here goes…

Damn… the MacBook’s fan kicks in about half way thru, and I have to start, like, yelling over it. “Are you sure it’s on??? IT’S WHISPER QUIET!!!”

Hi Todd

You are a busy camper — This looks really nice and I really like the idea of providing some custom services to the SSB - It’ll make them feel like real Desktop apps.

Looking forward to seeing the plugin API.

Maybe you should have a look at ScreenFlow.
On my MacBook the recording only uses around 30% of the cpu so there’re no loud fan noises.

You should look at Flock. It’s open Source so you could use their code to make a more advanced version since their mediabar has very similar functionality.

@vor, I’m def familiar with Flock. In fact, Flock has been a major inspiration for the Plug-In API. So far, I have not looked into their code… But I’ll let u in on a secret…

I’m putting the finishing touches on the Fluid Cocoa API… and then… there’ll be an AJAX API as well… that’s actually quite a simple addition on top of the Cocoa API. So compatibility with Flock extras might be interesting… BUT Flock is based on Firefox/XUL, and any Flock extra that leverages that (I’m assuming that’s most) will not be compatible, so dont get too excited about that.

Much more interesting is wider compatibility with other web-based widget platforms like google, netvibes, etc.
